This is the first anniversary of my wife's mothers passing. I told her back in June, not to expect being able to travel to Bacolod for this and visiting with Father and Mother. Just light the candles home, say the prayers and cook their favorite meals.

if you have not been, its a good opportunity to show respect for the cultural traditions here and probably to be appreciated for doing so

It is strange that everybody is saying cemeteries are closed. This is a notice that I received on Sept 17. It just says that q passes are needed to get in. Maybe this notice is incorrect?

Visiting the departed loved ones on Nov.1 and Nov.2 are a big part of Filipino tradition. Filipinos from all walks of life and faiths troop to cemeteries where their departed loved ones are buried. Cemeteries are crowded with people and such places turn really festive, what with the food, flowers, candles, and relatives coming together to visit/reconnect with the departed etc etc etc.

Not so this year. To avoid the possible spread of the dreaded virus, the govt. has ordered the closure of all cemeteries nationwide starting on Oct. 29 to Nov.4.People are encouraged to make their visits before Oct. 29.
I know that most of you here have Filipina wives who might go home for tradition’s sake. This might change some plans.
