Well at least you have a basis for comparison since you've been to other Asian places. I only know Dumaguete and I am referring to young drivers who just zoom pass you like there is no tomorrow---no helmets whatsoever. I am glad to hear that we here are not as risky compared to other drivers in other parts of the world. About that accident, don't even think about it. Wear your helmet, use all your senses, drive slow and follow the rules-----you'll be safe.
Two, 3, 4 wrongs do not make a right. Dumaguete is still almost totally lawless when it come to driving. But to each their own. If one chooses to die or face lifelong injury due to some clueless untrained idiot likely with no license, than go for it. We were almost killed by a drunk driver at 4:00 p.m. on a Sunday, it'll never happen again. No drunk driving laws are enforced until after there is an accident, how stupid is that ?
The thought going through my mind right before I had my first (and only, knock on wood) accident: "You know, I must be a pretty good rider, I've never had an accidental in the Phili...WTF!! SH*T! OW!"
We all know the risks here with driving. Its seems just about every post you make is very negative and pls stop typing in bold!
Davy, I am not using cap locks, just bold. two reasons, one, to separate it from the the post I am relying to, and it's easier to see. If you are looking for someone that agrees with everything then why do you need others n this forum?

Being a defensive driver on a motorcycle is certainly a requirement in the Philippines if you want to live long but no amount of caution could have prevented the accident I had. I would have needed x-ray vision to see the child behind the parked vehicle sprinting to the road or the ability to slow down time to react fast enough. The kid was in front of my bike in one blink. She was fine, somehow just a small scratch on her head...me on the other hand, I was picking gravel out of my right side for weeks.
