You might want to call the credit card company directly. At the bank they will give you whatever excuse that will make you go away.

As a big nose you will still have a limit on how much you can purchase at any one time irrespective of all the clearances the bank SAY you have

Had the same problem with BDO, you can go to your online banking and change the limit for foreign payment. Depends on your bank too.

Best to use USA credit cards for USA billing accounts. You need a USA address for that. Use your kid’s address, other relative or friend. No problem, pay online, no currency conversion etc..

Does anyone do that in the UK? I thought UK banks/credit card companies ask for proof of new address using utility bills - on which your name will not appear if you don't live there.

Crazy, wonder why they would want to do that? Suppose you move to PI while already having an established credit card account from previous years? Are people on the honor system to inform CC card company, then payoff their full balance and close one’s line of credit? Makes no sense for such as business-friendly country.

I have a Dutch bankaccount with my address in the Phils. and a credit card (Mastercard) from that bank with the same Phil address. No problem whatsoever. All my pension payments come in on that bankaccount and every now and then I transfer via internet a lumpsum to my wife's BPI account here. Some banks are more internationally-minded than others it seems....

I do more or less the same with my UK bank account (Halifax). They don't allow new customers living overseas (naturally), but also don't allow any changes to accounts while living overseas (unless they want to add some restrictions to my account, of course). They have also written to me to say they won't be sending me a new c/card when one of the two I have expires next year, but would reissue one to me whilst visiting UK. Fortunately I renewed my other one and debit card before moving out as I could see potential problems, so still have a few years to run on those.

Only ever use the UK cards for purchases outside Philippines, the wife's BDO account being the day-to-day use one and topped up with transfers from UK account via TransferWise.

So, we seem all set for a few years, but come the day, may need to think about an international account (quite big balances required in those, I believe though).

    Seems what I thought.

I took measures not to depend on my home country for almost anything as I guessed in advance they make life difficult if a person is abroad.
