For our US colleagues on here. Veteran American actor Ernest Borgnine has died peacefully at the Cedars-Sinai medical centre, Los Angeles, aged 95.

With every mention of his name, images of The Dirty Dozen immediately opens up in my mind. RIP Mr. Ernest.
When a young officer said to me my team reminded him of "Michale's Navy" it was one of the proudest moments of my navel career. It was actually Michale's Navy that steered me to the Navy. My crew was never pretty but they got the job done. Thank you Earnest.
R.I.P. Mr. Borgnine. He was definitely destined to become an actor, not the most handsome actor or even the most talented, but he was well suited to the roles he played. He was great in McHale's Navy with Tim Conway. His bio on Wikipedia makes a good read. He was one of the few Hollywood actors that I never heard anything negative about, which is a great accomplishment, considering he lived to be 95 years young!
We recently watched him in R.E.D. (Retired - Extremely Dangerous) with Bruce Willis. He hadn't changed much over the years; good actor; probably outlived most of us!
