lurker - a person who lurks, in particular a user of an Internet message board or chat room who does not participate. The titles are based off of your post count. Once you hit a certain post count threshold the title will automatically change. Different forum cron jobs and cache updates run at different times of the day so when you hit that post threshold the change to your title will not be immediate. I'm not sure which cron job or cache update user titles fall under but the change should be seen no later than midnight of the day you hit the post count threshold to bump you up to the next user title status. You might have notice that some members have a unique user title. Those were changed while I had accidentally left the user titles option open for anyone to change for several months. The field is now locked and cannot be changed by regular users.
That's kinda the point of putting the "lurker" title under people who don't participate. All it takes is an introduction post and it goes away.
