The UK is changing the Bank of England £20 notes to the polymer type and so the paper ones will not be valid by Sep 2022, when i saw this i remembered that i have quite a few of them so as i don't intend going back there any time soon i said to my wife i will have to talk to the money changer guy who hangs around the corner opposite Mc Donald's near Holy child, when i said this she looked at me in horror and said oh no you will get scammed, i said how can this be, does he give fake pesos ? what kind of scam can it be if you ask his exchange rate and it is better than the other places and you don't go with him to a dark secluded place to do the exchange ?
Does anybody in the forum have any views on this and has anybody had any dealings with this guy ?

    I don't know.
I have dealt with the guy and everything is fine.

I had similar reservations as you. Thought it strange that everyone knew he was there yet he could carry so much cash. I was given vague instructions so I wandered around the area until he found me. He is on the park corner across the street from McDonalds and BPI.

Dont forget Jim, there was 20 shillings to the pound, just in case you still have some!
£20 + £50 pound notes be changed over as quoted Sept 22. but will still be legal tender in UK banks.

dont go near that money changer (what do you think he is going to do with your money), he is going to take it straight to the forex changer in lee plaza or the small Robinsons opposite, long story short I changed money with him twice. euro once and then chinese RMB another time, on both occasions i followed him and he went straight to the forex changer himself.........you will get the best rate and the safest in robinsons......as the lee plaza is a little bit exposed...........now i use a chinese business man that operates in the philippines too ..........i send him my chinese money here in china and he sends me my pesos to my metro bank...

I read they are intending to change the P1000 notes here to polymer - because they do things here overnight (e.g. "Tomorrow will be a National Holiday") then too many paper ones stuffed under the mattress (!) may become non-tender in an instant - changeable in a bank for fee with 3 IDs and sextuplicate forms. So, Jimlad, you have been warned!

That is so very low! The GBP has been on the bedsprings recently - up and down like a tart with a target, but seems to be climbing again and now just around the P68 to 1 GBP.

I was at the forex place at Lee Plaza today and their rate was 61.8 p for £1 :greedy:, i then went to the money changer beside McDonalds and he said his rate was 65p for £1, so for a laugh i said are your pesos fake, right there in the street he pulled out from his pocket a wad of thousands that would choke a horse and said take a look, i then said how can you give 65 when forex only give 61.8 ? i didn't get a real answer and i didn't really expect one, he just said something about because he was so good.
