No thanks on the packing. We have homes in all 3 places plus our home in my home country. So we are all set no matter which home we choose to live in at the time.
How nice of you to offer though.

I wonder why nobody attacks Rye83 for posting his humorous comments about how bad Valencia is ? I think we have some scaredy cats afraid they might be banned.
Bye the way, we also moved out of valencia 8 years ago do to the noise and went 4 months with zero water, as in none. Anyone remember when the reservoir broke from that big storm ? We lived a km or more north of town. Very noisey.

To clarify: did you mean it is 'close', as in nearby?

Perhaps because on this Forum people do not attack someone for having a sense of humour.

So, 2 days spent in town! Have checked out the "tourist traps" along the boulevard, food prices at Robinson, the market, the butchers, vehicle prices and virtually all the central parts of the city. I the f like what I see so far, even the food has been allright. Had better than decent porkchops, onions and mash @ Honeycomb and a first class breakfast @ Casa Blanca even if it was a bit over priced. Rented a motorbike and will head to Valencia and Bacong next 2 days to look for the famous bunch of wild ladyboys wherever they are now. Should the water falls and the hot springs be on the agenda too?

You are not in Thailand. In Dumaguete there are no tourist traps as you call it. There are only cheaper and more expensive areas. And even those don't have a big price difference. Unless 20 to 100 peso makes a huge difference to your budget. Anyway, welcome to Dumaguete and good luck.

Why not...slip of the tongue there, but don't expect too much. I'd take a boat to Apo Island and go diving if you are certified. There is a golf course in the area if your golfing is your thing.

I have played golf in many places. There is no way except in a name only, that this can be classified as a "golf course". A true "cow pasture pool" spread if ever there was one. It is just one step up from Incirlik AB in Turkey when I was there in the early 80's.

I actually really enjoyed The Forest Camp in Valencia. The whole place was picturesque. Didn’t enjoy the freezing cold pools though. For me, the waterfalls was much ado over nothing as well. The falls was meh. Seen better, and the climb up was too exhausting and just not worth it.

Did the hot springs bit too, but the water was too murky and didn’t really feel like swimming in it. Water was definitely not how it looked like in the photos. Wasn’t crystal clear that day, for sure. The locals said the water can look really muddy on certain seasons because of the content of sulphur and you shouldn’t let it deter you, but at that time, it was like taking a mud bath and I just wasn’t keen.

For great dumaguete tourist attractions, diving would be the way to go. That’s just my opinion.
