I've had the same can opener for about 2-3 years now. My gf has problems with it but I just have to put a bit of sideways pressure (towards the middle of the can) on it and it works just fine. It has "Swing-A-Way" stamped on it. (And despite the name I have not have to use it to beat a can open with it once. lol)

It's rusted and disgusting looking but it works (I think sharpening the cutting wheel a bit would make it like new again):

I have found the SWING-A-WAY, hand-held can openers, made in the USA, are the longest lasting ones.

I bought a Swing-A-Way 20 or more years ago and just bought a new one. Gave the old one to my son as there was nothing wrong with it, just wanted a handle with a stand-out color I could see.

(A Brillo pad or steel wool will clean off the gunk and brighten that cutting edge on yours Wrye83).

I'll bring a few extra with me when I get to Duma.
