I have never been able to find one that lasted more than a month, including the one you gave me from the States. Seems only China makes them now and they are all sh*t quality.

I wish I would have kept a few P-38 "John Wayne" openers. Anyone still use them?

This can opener looks very, very similar to the Swingline can openers you can buy in the USA. I've had a Swingline I bought almost 40 years ago. Still have it - still use it. Works like a champ, just have to wash the gears with soap and warm water from time to time so they don't "gunk up" from contact with the food inside the can's lid edge while the can is being opened up.

I will bring a couple extra with me when I come to Duma. They're not cheap to buy (for a can opener), but hey - they can and will literally last a lifetime. Some models have different ends on them for popping off bottle caps and other things.

A lot of the problem is the inferior can metal. too thin a metal means the rollers can't get a good fix and then just wear themselves out and the edges are smoothed. if the metal was good then the opener would do it's job properly.

    IMHO of course.
