    Has anyone had any luck with controlling fruit flies, we have passionfruit with a good crop on, but most of them have been stung, I have set a trap up and catching plenty, but I have read that it is only the males that go into the trap, and the females do the damage...

    Fruit flies have a very short life span. I'd imagine that removing any food sources would quickly remedy the problem.

    The only times I have ever had a problem with them was when food or sweet/alcoholic drinks were left out over night in the table.

    I think we are talking about 2 different flies,these are the ones that sting the fruit and lay eggs in it, by the time the fruit is ripe it is full of grubs and inedible

    As there are no bees that I can see, it looks like the black ants are pollinating the flowers, so I don't really want to use sprays as it will probably kill the ants as well, I will keep trapping ......problem is there is a huge starapple tree over the road which will be breeding faster than I can trap lol
