Ok. But retinal detachment can have many forms and can involve blindness in that eye. I had assumed that on the way back you had already had surgery and if that was invasive you would rely for some time on the good eye.

People need to be aware that retinal detachment is classed as a medical emergency as delay can cause loss of sight. The main signs are:

The sudden appearance of many floaters — tiny specks that seem to drift through your field of vision

Flashes of light in one or both eyes (photopsia)

Blurred vision

Gradually reduced side (peripheral) vision

A curtain-like shadow over your field of vision

An expat I know had a detached retina, the Dr could not save his eye, now has a glass-eye.

All those symptoms are true or one or more.
Any of those occur best to get checked as prevention is possible before and if ignored it's a lot of hassle or worse. See surgeon ASAP.

I just returned from my month after surgery and all is good.
