If you get people you need to talk to on Facebook App. The message box for private chats has a phone icon that will call whoever's chat box you are in.. They have to be activated in the app as well.. I called England and USA from Peru and people have called me in USA from around the world.. If they have the face book app for mobile devices, and they activate the call feature, its free.. Its clear with a bit of digital roughness and echo type feedback.. International Free call options are worth knowing about... It only works via face book and only with people on your friends list who have the phone feature activated in their private chat section..

Someone needs to push Lebara into opening up shop in the Philippines.

I use to use Optus, than Telstra for calling and texting asawa from Australia, 50 cents per text and $10.00 would give me just over 3 minutes talk time using them both.

I switched to Lebara which works from the Vodaphone backbone, strange as Vodaphone gets a bad rap here and my friends who have it hate it and most times have no signal, where as I am right beside them and Lebara has signal yet works THRU Vodaphone??

Texts thru Lebara are 15 cents (per 160 character block) from Australia to the Philippines and I can call and talk most nights for 1 hour, 3 minutes and 59 seconds for exactly $10.00... Some nights I get a little over 2 hours for $10.00 AUD.

I have never been able to use Skype even on my 20 megabit Fibre Optic Cable Service, it sounds like it was underwater and the visual was like watching Polar Bears eating Vanilla Ice Cream in a blizzard! O-|

I will be seeking a way to make CHEAP Phone Calls or Texts from the Philippines to Australia soon, and we do not have Smart or Globe here, and when I was there last Christmas I blew 1000 pesos in texts in I think an hour texting my 6 kids, only to discover on my return half of them never even received my texts whilst the other half did, not good AND expensive! :(

For my purposes Magicjack has served me well for more than 6 years. I have a FL phone number and I can call back to the States and or Canada from anywhere. I frankly am still surprised the hardware has not taken a dump by now. It's been beaten and battered but works fine. I renewed for 5 years about four years ago and I think it was $65.00 for five years(it's more now) Only problem i ever had was Internet liine was a shared line with the rest of the house and someone would invaribly pick up the other line, when I would give instructions not to pick up(More Fun in Phils) O-|

Google Voice is the hot ticket to call the U.S. from the Philippines but the program needs to be downloaded while in the U.S. or at least to a U.S. IP address in order for it to work.

I brought it back with me on a thumb drive the last time I was in the U.S. The best part is that it is FREE and the call quality is amazingly good if you have decent internet here.

It is so good that no one I have talked to while using it could tell that I was out of the U.S. or even making a long distance call for that matter.

I downloaded it on my Linux computer while on an Afghan IP with no problems. I know there are some stipulations on Google Wallet but I don't think there are any for making voice and video calls. I make video calls daily on Afghan internet to Philippine internet and the quality is almost always very good.

It used to be called Google Voice or Google Talk and I think before that Google Chat (they change the name every other weekend it seems). If you use the Google Chrome Browser on any computer OS you can download it as a Chrome extension and it will be in your browser. It is pretty annoying on Chrome running in Linux (it interferes with the Alt+Tab function that allows you to quickly change programs....with Ubuntu 14.04 anyways) but for Windows it doesn't get in the way at all....I refuse to use CrApple products so if it causes you problems, well, you deserve them for using CrApple anyways . It can be downloaded on Android and CrApple mobile devices as well.

    Works MUCH better than Skype.
