Hi everyone. We've recently moved here from Cavite - building a house in Bong Bong, Valencia. Dumaguete really is a pleasure after the congestion, pollution and crime as Metro Manila keeps spreading south.
Welcome to Dumaguete and more particularly to the DI. In terms of criminality and pollution Valencia is, compared with Metro Manila, for sure heaven on earth. Not to be negative, but don't under estimate the traffic jams and congestions when going down town and be prepared that not all smoke leaving the exhaust pipe of a bus/truck/van is as clean as can be when speaking about pollution. But call me one place on earth where it is perfect; so Njoy.

Hello Hawk, Welcome to DI and to Dumaguete as well as Valencia. Are you from Cavite originally just relocating here? I suggest you do not let down your guard, there are always criminals everywhere, but comparing with Manila or Cavite, of course, it is a lot better here, in terms of pollution and yes, crime.
Thanks everybody . My asawa is from Cavite, I'm from UK. We found increasing problems there with squatters moving in from Manila. One problem we've found here with the construction, is that suppliers in Dumaguete don't carry big stocks. You pick some tiles you like and then find they only have two boxes, and then they ran out of cement. Oh well - nearly there. Our son was born on the 2nd - at Silliman. It went very well and I was quite impressed with the treatment. Two nights in a private room, normal delivery cost about P 25000.
Good choice with Valencia. I would have left this island if I hadn't moved up there. Living in Duma for me was a nightmare. Valencia is a nice retreat. Hope you enjoy your stay.
