Apparently I've insufficient privileges to reply to a thread that I've already earlier contributed to (weird!), so have started a new one just to reply to Dutchjob regarding the P17k annual fee for foreigners.

I left it until May last year to decide to join, paid P17k, and now find that this was my 2020 annual contribution and has now expired. So, be careful, as you may find later that you decide to join, pay the fee, and all you have achieved is several months without cover.

Well, I have never joined PhilHealth, so it did save me @least those 17k. Explaining to PhilHealth that an annual fee is similar as for 12 months supposedly will not help you any further.

I joined PhilHealth in July of last year. My receipt says, "Your PhilHealth coverage period is from: July 13, 2020 to July 13, 2021". I paid 17K for coverage which includes both myself and my wife. Was clearly informed that the next installment payment would be due before expiration in July 2021.

We considered Phil Health (the Wife and I) for about an entire 60 seconds. Meh!!!!

Have made it 2 years so far with no coverage....... We have decided to shoot for 20 more years, no coverage. That's just how we roll.

Best of luck. We have Phil Health and every time we had to use it, two pregnancies, one Dengue and me for a week, I feel well compensated for what we spent and had to pay Phil Health. You never know when something will hit you. P17,000 after all is only a dollar a day.

    I don't know.
    Thank you for your information.

Do you remember the reimbursement rates for you and your wife?

Which hospital did you stay in, what was the daily rate, what was the daily reimbursement for hospitalization from PhilHealth?

Was it the same for when you or your wife was hospitalized?

    Thank you in advance.

Pregnancies are quite predictable. We have a pretty solid understanding of why they happen and how to prevent them.

Can anyone advise on how the PhilHealth contribution works please? I had thought that it was just like an annual insurance, but the wife seems to think that historic contributions are retained and built up if not used.

It was SUMC and for the wife about 9 years ago and 18 years ago for the deliveries I think she got about half the total cost both times and for me, same hospital I think it would have been about 25% or so. Mine was quite expensive with my contribution being in excess of P120,000 or so from memory, about 5 years ago, with oxygen, plenty of drugs and daily doctor visits. both private ward. Thats the best I can do.
