My friend, from France, brought me a nice pair of lightweight walking/running shoes that are are a little too small (I am a 11 1/2 and these are 11) for me.. I would like to keep them ,but I need to make a wee bit bigger (especially around my arthritic big toes)...any one have any "shoe stretchers' or suggestions ..Thanks ..Miguel

we'd fill tight/small leather work boots/ski boots with hot water (not boiling) before work and let them soak for a hour or so, then put on thick socks, dump out the water and put on the boots an wear ém that day. don't know if it'd work with synthetics but it might relax them a bit or... maybe unglue them, naaaa... they gotta be able to take water, their running shoes, right.

also, i knew a guy who had an odd big toe and he made a cut in the shoe so the toe'd have some space..

    norm : ))~~

    don't try this at home!!!

    Hi Matey, Good Morning.
whilst I have not seen a Shoe Stretcher for some years, I did have a pair done some years ago, at a little Boot maker Down town. unfortunately, he was killed by his Brother,so it closed down The Market area, has quite a lot of little businesses doing this type of work and I think maybe, a visit down there, will yield some success.

I did find this article that, may come in useful to you. Hope it helps some.

Maybe you can ask Knowthefish (Greg) to put on your new shoes. He is 6’9” tall.

6'9"?!! I think I may look like that to some of the locals who are often intimidated by my height and call me "giant" among other things. Sometimes I think it is good that I don't know much Visayan so I don't have to listen to their gossip.

Did I grow some when I wasn't looking? While wearing my large hat and thick sandals, I might appear close to 6'9", but in reality I am only a lowly 6'6" and wear 13E shoes (an almost impossible find here) so I know about shoes that don't fit. I am down to wearing sandals as they allow plenty of room for my toes.

A half size too small makes a big difference and even more of a difference in running shoes that should be slightly larger than what one normally wears to allow for swelling of the feet while running.

I used to wear a size 12-1/2 shoe, but have found out that it is normal for your feet to flatten out a bit with age forcing you to wear the next larger size.

I don't think I could fit into a size 11 to stretch them to an 11.5, but it was worth a thought anyways.
