    There is no such thing as "discrimination" in the Philippines, so that would get absolutely nowhere, but that is exactly what it was and I knew it, but also took my ticket and paid it, because I did park there illegally (just like everyone else at the time). I have heard others complain about her singling out foreigners, but there isn't anything that can be done about it in the Philippines where there are no anti-discrimination laws (that are enforced, anyway).

    The recent predicament of a DI member had with people blocking his business driveway reminds me of an incident when we first moved here around 6 years ago.
    One day we parked outside the bank on the boulevard next to Bogarts, DBS i think it is, we were nose to the kerb and last in a line of cars before the banks driveway.
    When we came back there was a traffic guy writing out a ticket, shock horror WHAT, it turns out the Mayor (whoever he was at that time) had been in the bank and when he was leaving he felt it was troublesome to exit the car park as our car was encroaching on the driveway by around 5 mm.
    I spoke to the security guard at the gate as he was watching when we parked and did not mention it was an offence but his answer was that it was not a problem until the Mayor came along.
    So that was a 50 peso lesson for us.
    The point of my story is that i do not know what kind of business the DI member runs but if he could somehow entice the Mayor with some reason to come to his business i am sure the offending blockage would be covered with 50 peso tickets in double quick time and the problem would be over.

    The issue isn't if the ticket is legitimate or not, the issue is discrimination. Selective parking ticket writing might not... until you change out "selective" with "discriminatory". The fix would then be let you go with a warning or write tickets to every other rule breaker parked next to you. (btw, I am just making a point for the sake of dicussion. Not diluted into thinking I can or should change how things run here. It is their country, not mine.)

    I wonder what she would have done if you said "OK, Thank You Ma'am", popped out your cell phone and started to video her and the surrounding vehicles to file with your complaint?

    Of course she was going to write all of them a ticket and probably all of the motorbikes parked on the sidewalks too. They wouldn't just single out a foreigner like that.

    I got my 50php parking ticket when I pulled up in front of the walk-up window at McD, stepped out to get a drink at the window....and VOILA, as soon as I stepped out of my car, that lovely high-heeled, tight-shirt wearing female (?) officer was writing me a ticket!! There were several other cars parked alongside the road on both sides, and I asked if she was going to give THEM tickets....she told me if I had a problem I could file a complaint......
