We bought our Chevrolet in Dumaguete (they were at the mall from Bacolod). We had to take it for required maintenance (for warranty coverage) to a local auto shop every 3 months and have our book filled out, showing we were keeping up with the maintenance. One day my car wouldn't start after driving to the mall, got a jump, drove home. Next morning the battery was dead again, so I charged it and it started. I drove it the next day and it died again. I was told to clean the terminals on the battery, it still died, then I was told it was the battery, so I replaced the battery, it STILL died!! Come to find out, it was the alternator and I was quoted something like 20,ooophp for a new alternator, which was supposed to be covered by the warranty. The car was only 2 years old and I questioned why the alternator would already be bad, and a local mechanic got into the guts of the alternator and was able to replace a small part inside that was faulty (not the entire alternator) for 7,000php. I submitted all paperwork to be reimbursed by Chevrolet for the warranty work. They said they would reimburse me, but denied my claim by ignoring my requests and not taking, nor returning, my phone calls. So, at one of my required maintenance appointments (which was performed by Bacolod Chevrolet), instead of paying them the 9000php (a ridiculous amount anyway) they usually charged for that service, I paid them 2000php and gave them copies of the paperwork for the 7000php warranty work, and I said "now we are even"!! They never refuted it or sent me another bill........anyway, watch out, they are a bunch of crooks!!

In a similar vein - had some bodywork damage on a 2 year-old Innova a while back. Took it to Toyota who printed me out a very professional quote for the paint job required - 30,000 pesos. Then went to speak to Grims, the service manager at our friendly local repair shop (Scuds - near Hypermart). They quoted 8,000!!! Needless to say I went with them. They may look rough and ready but they did a first class job as well, perfectly matching the existing color. Since then I have recommended them to several friends for both paint and mechanical work and they have always done a good job. And there doesn't seem to be anything in the way of long-nose tax involved.

Suzuki cars opened a dealership in Dumaguete.. Fantastic!!
But : The only replacement part they have in stock is engine oil. So if you need parts they have to come from Cebu/Manila ,before they order you have to pay a deposit herein Duma.
I ordered a rear shock and two hatch back dampers. Cost P 7,000 and paid P2,500 deposit. After two weeks waiting still nothing so I canceled the order while in the meantime I found on the i-net a supplier in Manila who sells the same original Suzuki items for P 4,700 + P 350 LCB cost with a 2 to 3 days delivery time.
Now, I just received a text from Suzuki, Duma saying that " In order to refund my deposit the Cebu office request : a letter explaining the reason for canceling the order and a photocopy of valid ID with three signatures." In my answer I asked or I was dealing with a renowned company or with a bunch of gangsters and that I will report this conduct to the DTI.
It's " SERVICE" in capital letters again ! They're not only brutal and slow in delivery but very expensive in labor cost too.
So Suzuki owners " be aware!"-

They are all at the over charging thing here,Mitsubishi also! I needed a new suction control valve for a strada,Mitsubishi wanted p15,000 for one. They are all made by denso anywhere in the world for the same part.
I found one on desiel direct website in the uk for p3,500 inc vat so just got a mate to bring it over when he next visited.
It's always worth checking around first as these dealers here are all crooks.-

Iam a car mechanic in europe , and the last 10 years beeing working on my own cars over here as I had a lot of problems beffor , did get nice multicap , after 2 weeks a broken front diff they forgot to put oil in de diff. , cambelt broken after weeks ( they did not evenchange it on a so called rebuild multicab) , so nexst car I did buy a pajero , japanese import V6 petrol , not running , nice 4X4 was standing at the dealer for a ong time just becouse they could not fix it , Did buy it for a couple of pessos , did bring my ODB reader with me from europe , broken flywheel sensor , did buy it in de UK on ebay arrived 10 days later and iam stil driving the pajero . the problem for the moment is that ,the last couple of years those very old cars are goin , how manny new trucks are driving arround with no one understanding how they work , my advice if you have a problem withyour car look at forums, lots of info there what the problem can be, Parts, buy it yourself online lots of people and company's send to the philippines , what do you think of a new alternator for a pajero v6 , 35000 pesos for ur local mitsubirshi dealer , waiting time 2 months , ebay.com did buy a brand new unit for 10000 pesos spend a other 5000 to get it in 3 days , and yes it arrived on time . hmmmm maybe should start some thing over here..............

I took my Fortuner to Toyota for U joints and a valve cover gasket. ONLY took 3 weeks. To replace the rear bumper cover and do some painting 6 weeks.
But sir the body shop was busy. That was true. The body shop was full to the brim.........lots of bad drivers here.-
