I sent my gf to town to get on a tricycle and go find some. She did. Cost me about 60 pesos a sack for what seems to be about 100 pound sack of soil. Discounted to 3 sacks for 160 pesos. No idea if she got a deal or underpaid but it was worth it to avoid hassle.

Most commercial growers here make their own soil, using native soil and rice hulls. Unfortunately the closet rice mill is now in Bayawon, (if anyone knows of one closer please comment as a number of members are currently looking for rice hulls) and sells is quantites beyond the needs of the normal homeowner. You can buy rice hulls at the nursery close to the park in Valencia (not those selling on the steps adjacent to the park, but kiddle-corner to the north west). I think I remember them being 60 P a bag. Just mix it to your liking with native soil, sandy type preferred (50/50 seems good) and put in some fertilizer and you will have great soil. Because of the high organic material and lack of clay, it will dry quicker and require more water, but provide a great medium for fast growth. Be sure the rice hulls has started to compost a little. You can also make your own organic compost and eliminate burning all the organic litter too at the same time by having a compost pile.
