    I'm not sure about that. I updated my Texas address (used my sister's address)....but they had no problem mailing it to an out of state address. I'd say if you don't have an address in the state you could probably rent a P.O. box in the state and use that for the address on the license.

    Here's a link for california dl renewal. Expired license can not be renewed online if I understand it correctly.

    Have you tried renewing it online? I renewed my Texas license without stepping foot in the state. I also did not have to take any exam. They used the picture from my expired license again. They mailed it to me overseas.
