If (big if) they manage to clean up the affected areas properly then nature will probably at least partly recover like it did elsewhere after bad oil spills, but it will take time. https://response.restoration.noaa.g...n-valdez-timeline-of-recovery-5jun14_noaa.png
The timeline of the exxon valdez disaster doesn't look reassuring at all for currently affected livelihoods though.
