I saw a used telescope for sale at Alymae U.S. Surplus on the corner of Larena Drive and L. Rovira Rd. Their pricing may be flexible. It might be best to send your SO in to enquire the price before you go in to evaluate the quality.
The price on the item is usually not the price at which they sell the item for. There are color tags that determine the amount of discount. The longer it sits in the store the greater the discount. We purchased a wetsuit that was 75% off the listed price.
Strange way to do business - it put the three of us visiting there off ever going again. A screwdriver was P1200 and in Robinson's was P180!
I don't feel like going there, but if someone can give me a description of the scope and the price (and maybe take a photo of it) I can tell you if it's any good.
The price might go up if someone showed an interest in it to the point they took it down off the shelf for pictures. I would grab something else and take it to the counter, ask for the price, show disgust at the price as being so high then return the item to the shelf. After doing this a couple of times with different items, I would take the telescope to the counter and see what happened.
