How many times has Why Not and Casablanca been sold in the last 10+ years? My count for the last 11 years is 5 for Why Not and 3 for Casablanca...yet both are still open in the same location and still have the same owners. But hey, maybe this time is different?

Simply ask the owner himself, after all he's the one who can tell you yes or no!

He is, and has been for a long time, in Austria. I am going for lunch today and will ask the manager and hope to get an honest answer.

Had lunch at Casablanca today and asked Christine, the day time front of house manager and she says not that she has been told or is aware and is not aware of any rumour like this. I also asked one of the waitresses to ask the chef (who I have met and pretty sure is German) and the answer was no. Food was excellent as always and service was likewise. I know the owner has been in Austria for a long time but from my perspective, the staff, who all seem to have been there for a long time, maintain the high standards that you expect from this restaurant.

I was not aware that Gunther is now staying in Austria for quite some time.

Maybe something to do with the fact that for nearly a year now its been very difficult to travel from Europe to the Philippine's which maybe the case for the next 12 months

I think a lot of people are wishing to get back to the Phils soon, including me.

Had breakfast at Casablanca a few days ago. Gunther is indeed back in Austria and has been for awhile, return date currently unknown. Met the new chef, Jan, from northern Germany. Menu is somewhat new, also simpler due to difficulty of getting anything onto this island, food is better than ever. Highly recommended again.
