Is Trendi a restaurant, or just a place to buy western type foods? I am always looking for a new place to satisfy my western cravings - too expensive to regularly go to Manila for a "civilization break".

Also, FWIW, I have been REALLY liking KRI, over near Portal West. Outstanding hamburgers (try the truffle burger!) if you ask me (dont all Americans love good burgers? :-))

jwdaigle, have you tried Casablanca restaurant? I have found it to be as good as most Manila area restaurants and not as expensive as the good ones in the metro area. It is western food, I would call it more European than American; however, you can ask the chef to modify a dish to your liking. Besides enjoying their steaks, for me , it is the best pasta place because they tailor it exactly how I like it. The wine list is also very good. Enjoy

They semi recently added a food menu and its growing slowly. As of now besides frozen sausages, cheeses, breads, and some spices they also now have a Chili con Carne (real beefy with garlic bread), Baguetes with sausages and all the nice fixings (my favorite and very tasty), pizzas, assortment of meat pies, brushetta, and possibly a couple of other things.

On Thurs there is a sample sort of thing going on you go and sample a selection of various things some that may be added to the Menu. On Friday nights a live band as well.

Yup, very good also. I eat there regularly, but a bit pricey to do it often if you live here on a budget. And besides, variety is the spice of life, no? :-)

FWIW, my favorite places to eat (and it shows if you know me :-)) are (not in any particular order) :

    1) The Truffle burgers at KRI (but have tried other things on the menu along the way)
    2) The pizza (try a margherita pizza with sun dried tomatoes) and beer (a czech beer called "Pivo Praha") at Bravo Golf resort in Sibulan
    3) Jos Inato (really good tasting chicken with herbs) - and inexpensive
    4) Mifune Japanese food
    5) Casablanca.
    6) Florentina (kind of out of the way for where I live up in Cantil-E, but very good tasting inexpensive food). Best place for breakfast in my opinion.

Anything good that I am missing (besides Trendi?)

Standard disclaimer (seem to need it on this site :-)): I am not affiliated nor am paid by any of these places. Just a satisfied customer.
