Anyone know where I might find fresh cilantro in or near Dumaguete?

Also known as coriander or locally as wansoy. Lee plaza or hypermart, possibly Robinsons, you buy the plants at the provincial market on EJ Blanco drive.

Wansoy, is not the same as coriander. yes you can buy fresh coriander in Lee and Robinsons but we grow native coriander in our garden. it has bags of flavour and is really easy to grow. Plant doesnt resemble what we know as Coriander but flavour is the same. Strangely locals dont use it at all in cooking

I mean't to say that I "may have" given Mr. Barkada some cilantro seeds the last time I was there... Once again I fat fingered My iPhone, it predicted a different word and I never proof read it.. I do plan on bringing some more habanero seeds, but not very sure how well they'll do.. Maybe Larry can brief Us on this one... Cheers!

Ok enough already! Whatever that lee sell as Wansoy is not coriander/cilantro. it looks the same but the proof of the pudding is . . . . Try substituting lee wansoy for coriander in your curries etc. See how quickly you can ruin a dish . Beleive me i've done it.
John, the 'cilnatro' seeds germinated but didnt get much further , suspect they need a slightly colder , more Med , evening climate. Tried hard to germinate the Indian Ghost peppers but failed. think maybe the seeds from the pepper were sterile. Will see what I can find here this week[UK] . Still really keen to start basty's burger challenge ala 'Man versus food' ! See you soon

I can buy dried cilantro flakes in bulk sized containers over here.... Still good, but not quite as good as fresh.. BTW, I'll have a giant ziplock bag full of fresh habaneros when I come, just as long as they don't get confiscated from My checked bag....cheers!
