Cockfighting

Same could be said of a few religions' past histories, but they're still here & thriving.

 

It goes totally against my respect for all animals (maybe not ants!) but it is not my country so I just have to accept what the nationals of this country want.

 

Just to keep things in perspective, cock fighting was legal in one US state as late as 2008, and only became illegal in US territories (American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) in December 2018.
In Puerto Rico, at least, the ban was opposed by many:

The following quote has been attributed to Abraham Lincoln, who supposedly earned his nickname "Honest Abe" in part because he was considered a fair referee in cock fights.
"As long as the Almighty permitted intelligent men, created in his image and likeness, to fight in public and kill each other while the world looks on approvingly, it's not for me to deprive the chickens of the same privilege."

 

The defining word is "intelligent", though I don't think it applies to all human fighters.

Not against cock-fighting, it's their culture so let them be. But if it's illegal then they need to be punished. For the police chief, so sad for his family RIP.
Aside note. Some basic first-aid may have saved the police chief, using a belt for a 'tourniquet'
