My fiancé and I are new to the Dumaguete area, and are having difficulty finding items like cocktail sauce and French salad dressing, among other basic western foods. Can anyone suggest a possible source for these? Thanks!

Have a look around in Robinson's supermarket, SM in the city mall, Hypermarket or Lee Plaza. You could even try the deli in Why Not.

Forgotten the name but opposite Bo's on the Boulevard (but on the side street not the Boulevard) is a shop with a few steps down off street level, which has plenty of meats, deli items and western foods and may be worth a look. As to what you seek I am not sure it is there but they do have lots of things which are otherwise unavailable. If someone here can provide the name of the place and a telephone number maybe you can give them a call.

I think you can make cocktail sauce by mixing horseradish with ketchup.

Great tip! I have one; if you like ricotta cheese which you cannot find here, (as for lasagna etc.), get 2qts local whole milk (hypermart), heat it up to near boiling, remove for heat, squeeze the juice from 2 lemons, after 10 min, strain. Also, the liquid is healthy whey protein with a slight lemon flavor and tastes great with stevia.

ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice and worcester sauce............may also add mayo. Mix all to taste, cheers. I myself have also looked in most places mentioned in this thread with no luck as of yet. Home made is awesome as I always like more horseradish.

Lee Hypermart has a couple of good prepared (not cream) horseradish selections. The meat shop on the national highway south of town generally has some raw horseradish also. Belcris has a few sauces but can not recall if they carried a cocktail sauce.
