Please don't despair on the VA issue. We are now covered under the FMP and there are hospitals here in the Philippines that will take you in, take care of you and file your claim for you, no up-front expenses. Just take your eligibility FMP letter with you and you are in. I hope this helps and God bless.
A current list of FMP participating hospitals is below. Divine Grace Medical Center Cavite, Philippines Manila Doctors Hospital Manila, Philippines Unihealth Baypointe Hospital Olongapo, Philippines Sacred Heart Medical Center Angeles City, Philippines The Medical City Clark Angeles City, Philippines Avitus Kidney Care and Dialysis Center Olongapo, Philippines The Medical City, Iloilo Iloilo, Philippines
Please tell me which ones specialize in coronary bypass surgery and has modern medical equipment to preform that surgery?
Don’t you have Medicare A and B?? June 2108...had complete medical checkup at Holy Child. Heart was normal. Yesterday had another medical checkup at Ace Hospital. I learned from this forum the hospital was open. “Aorta is torturous and calcified.”
I'm not sure about "specializing". I know the one in Iloilo has a cardic center along with a few of the ones in Manila. Best to try and call the VA Monday or just do a quick internet search of each specific hospital and see what they offer.
I checked and it looks like the Medical City in Iloilo might be your best best. Look them up on the internet and you can contact them. Their cardiology seems pretty comprehensive.
Guam is OK for Medicare. It is covered. However, I also know that for residents of Guam, it is a special case that Medicare covers the Philippines. So is it good to go there for treatment when Guamians come here for treatment? I suspect we should not even consider Saipan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you so much for your offer. Here is the latest in my nightmare; The work done in Manila the day before got me well enough to fly. By then we were completely out of cash and a maxed out Visa card. My brothers chipped in and we were able to get a ticket to San Francisco Once we got to Sea-Tack, Alaska Air called an ambulance and we were in the VA ER. The VA did another catheterization and did some busting up of some of the blockages. That is two catheterization in three days. The third catheterization in 3 weeks and I was beginning to fear the word catheterization. Almost three days in ICU and discharged yesterday afternoon. Im still weak and shaky but glad to be out of the hospital. Im looking at 3 or 4 weeks of cardiac rehab. Now working on a place to stay during that rehab.
