Since our Husky had an unexpected litter of 3 pups fathered by our Belgian Malinois the wife decided some cages were in order to minimize the chances of that happening again.

Her design all the way; I think they came out looking pretty good (just need a final coat of paint) and are pretty large with floor space about 5 1/2' X 5 1/2' for each of the three cages.

I'm not a huge fan of caging dogs but short of getting them fixed (not in the plan) this seems to be a decent option.

Our dogs will never be in a cage 24/7...the cages are for when one of our females goes into heat and then it will be a rotation between the female and male to keep them apart. When a dog does need to be in the cage it will not be treated like it is a punishment or something and will make sure they are comfortable...all our dogs have been exploring the cages as they've been built and seem to find them interesting. Plus, they are pretty big as cages go.

We have 2 female Belgian Malinois who both have had a litter this year, so they will not be bred again until next year. The Husky's pups were totally a surprise; beautiful little pups but the plan is for her to be bred next year to another pure breed Husky with PCCI paperwork...or the wife's plans as this is her little op.
