    Hello fellow Expats,

I am thinking of relocating from Cagayan de Oro (CDO) to Dumaguete City with my girlfriend however she likes CDO and is concerned about Earthquakes in the Dumaguete area. I am hoping to convince her to visit Dumaguete with me.

My plan is to live within a 5 miles of Dumaguete City. My understanding is that the Earthquakes are not local to Dumaguete City but some 70 miles away.

Any reason to take her fears seriously or has Dumaguete City proper been relatively safe?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

    Welcome to Dumaguete Info!

Dumaguete is safe from earthquakes unless you choose to live in a very poorly constructed house or apartment.
The epicenter of all of the recent quakes have been out in the ocean or on Mindanao. She really has nothing to be concerned about - earthquake wise.
