Our normal electric bill for 2 houses in the same property is about 12,000 per month with a 2 hp split air conditioning running 24/7 and other box type ac's every now and the and I've noticed for the last couple months it's now going up!!!, electricity here is far more expensive than Cebu!

 

Electricity is billed per Kilowatt hour. The current price in Cebu is about P12 PKWH after all taxes and add ons, just about the same as it is here. If you are paying a lot more for electricity here, it simply means that you are USING a lot more electricity here than you did in Cebu. No ifs, ands, or buts!

Electricity is cheaper up here in Baguio, P9.41 per KWh on my last bill.

Not too bad, but rainy season is starting... So I think it will be bad the next few months.

We had almost daily brownouts last week...

But before that maybe once a month.

 

But it's cooler there Kim, so aircon doesn't need to be used so much. The cheaper rate for electricity in Baguio is more than cancelled out by the astronomical rental prices for property. But if the beer is cold enough in the fridge, it will stay cold for at least 12 hours :p

My electric bill went from 25-30K in Angeles to 6-7K here in Baguio when I moved...

We were 2 in the house in AC, but still insane for electricity.

 

if your distribution utility/electric cooperatives has a BCQ (contract with a generator), there is what we call a line rental charge, and is usually passed on to the consumer. Line rental charge is the amount paid for electricity to travel at an "expressway" from the plant's substation to the DUs/ECs metering point/substation. Each distance has various charges.

Ex. if lets say you from Iloilo (your DU is PECO), and PECO has a bilateral contract with a power plant in Cebu, for that power plant to be able to deliver power to PECO, on top of the generation charge is the line rental charge so the power can be dispatched from Cebu to Iloilo. And mind you, some line rental charges can be high, on the ave. around .30/kwh. That also contributes to high electricity cost..

Dumaguete I think has around 11/kwh rate as of now...
