Not really. Only naive expats think they can have a good living standard in the Philippines with a 1000 US$ a month. But with this kind of money you don't live well here. Meaning by western standards. But then again, it depends. So what you call a "thinking process" is really for those people having wrong perceptions about the Philippines. Those who know what to expect and knowing the Philippines well can still make a better living than back home. Even with 1000 $ a month. (no family). I think with 2000 $ you live quite well here.
