    It’s back in the UK, too heavy to lug over here. One day.

    An evil serpent kidnapped the Earth Goddess Sri Bhoomi Devi and took her beneath the Ocean. Brahma, um, the big guy, summoned Vishnu (another big guy) to solve this problem. Vishnu incarnated himself as a Boar (Varanasi) who vanquished the serpent and restored the earth to balance. Vishnu does this sort of thing from time to time. Tortoise, Dwarf, Krishna, about 9 in all. Glad to clear that one up.

    Yup, that’s the guy. Haven’t been to Aihole, and didn’t know one was there. So cheers for the tip. Perhaps after this all over. Here’s the one from Mahabalipuram.
