Hi Joe welcome to DI, I am not into sport and a lot younger than you. Quite a few here seem to go to a gym and no doubt they will post you about the best ones around. walking the boulevard seems common and draws a lot of people, the Sports centers up around the Capitol Building Area are open to the Public at certain times. Other than this I can't give you much more information but there will be plenty that can and no doubt will. the local 70's and over are not well known for exercising so I guess you will have to rely on the Expat brigade. Enjoy your stay and welcome to Dumaguete

Hi Joe and welcome aboard. I appreciate that you're a man of "mature years", but there are numerous activities that can combine leisure with a keep fit slant. Swimming is good for all ages and although the seawater around Dumaguete is not particularly healthy, a lot of the better resorts north and south have a pool. Some places in or near to Dumaguete also have a pool; Mia's at the side of the airport in Sibulan, and Seven Seas in Bantayan to name but two. Consider taking up golf if you don't already play. Whacking a little white missile around 9 or 18 holes, combined with a liesurely stroll around the course can be quite therapeutic. Hope you can find something that suits your needs.

Hi Joe, welcome to DI. Just a note to let you know, there is a group of golfers that hang out frequently in the afternoon at Mia's.

There y'go Joe. Drop in to Mia's some afternoon and you can do a 3 in 1; get an intro to the golfing fraternity, have a swim in the pool and increase your social circle all at the same time !!!

Welcome to Dumaguete and forum Joe. We are all called Joe here. There are lots of "mature' guys at the local gyms doing light exercises - bike, treadmill, machines, light weights, girl watching. Something to do and a healthy alternative to McDonalds.
