Hi there, We are looking for Internet options in Bacong. Globe and Smart pocket wifi are very unstable. iGSat is kind of expensive for our budget. Fil-Products - do they do Bacong? PLDT - do they do Bacong? Any other advice?
Fil-Products is there but I have no idea if they are available on your street. They wanted p50,000 to run a cable down the street where I was staying in Combado. I also had issues with Globe and Smart pocket wifi (Globe was a bit better). Ended up with a Globe post-paid plan which worked well from the antenna on the roof.
Depending where you we in bacong globe DSL cable internet can be available which OK most of the time.
Phil Products, Globe post paid, PLDT and Smart post paid have all made me sign a contract for a year of more. If I remember correctly, even Sky Cable asked for that so I doubt you will get anything other than pre-paid if you don't want to sign a year contract. Just put it in the name of some local who will do it for a little cash and not care about "credit rating" when you break the contract and just stop paying.
That's a good idea, but I would feel horrible if Globe, for example, came after their home. Do they not take legal action?
Not in the handfull of times that I know about. There is one drawback to doing what I said though: If you put that Globe account in some filipinas name and then pay like you are supposed to, then after the year is up she can go into the office and cancel "your/her" account and get the deposit back. That happened to my buddy when he had a fight with his g/f of 2 years.
I didn't, or at least don't remember, putting any kind of deposit down for our Globe post-paid plan. That was this past May.
They generally don't take legal action unless the amount owed is substantial as court costs and filing is pretty big. They send it off to a debt collector who threatens legal action but in most cases are unable to actually file and win. If you went in and returned our device and paid what was owed on the current bill they pretty much have no case. Make the accusation that it didn't perform at the speeds promised per contract and NTC will generally protect you if they start harassing and saying they are going to take legal action. The NTC fines PLDT and Globe constantly for many of the tactics they use but cost of doing business.
