I previously used ExpressVPN and found their trouble-shooting advice very fast and useful.

I've also been using NordVPN mainly for access to the US Netflix selection. Sometimes it struggles with HD video (PLDT 50mbps) but for the most part it's fine.

Welcome to what i call the upside down world. In any first world country i would agree. Encryption takes cpu time so mostly will slowdown any connection.

Not here in PH. With all ip sharing because not enough ipv4 numbers available for the countries came late online and mess this causes on a bad configured network. A good vpn will get you around most of the local problems for critical applications like voip, rdp, teamviewer and of course a lot of geolocation restricted sites.

Then again, it is a struggle sometimes. Was a happy IPvanish user because they had servers in Manilla but they stoppes few months ago.

Then the search starts again what works best. In my experience with the services i need mostly to Amsterdam expressvpn is the best. This does not mean this is the best vpn for everybody.

But lot of times, dont need a vpn. It is for times like few weeks ago, some cable broke in all the typhoon damages and all pldt had crappy service. Not me, expressvpn kept me working.

Hi Foobar I was wondering if you did in the end cancel PLDT and move to Filproducts Fibre and if so any problems with PLDT canceling the Fibr contract?

We are moving up to Valencia from Talay the road up towards Lugan on the mountain. Our PLDT Fibr 3 year contract ends this end of June so we either cancel and get Filproducts Fibr or Globe?? Or let the PLDT roll over for another 3 years and transfer it.

Any feedback of your experiences or anyone's experience much appreciated.

    Mike

I would cancel it. I have a few friends who tranferred it and PLDT messed it up completely. Better start from scratch. OK, maybe it would work in your case.

    Thanks for the feedback :-)
Am I right in thinking you're locked in for another 3 years if you transfer?

That don't I know. Maybe they offer also shorter contracts. Hopefully.

The only problem with dumping PLDT is that if i understand FilProducts, they USE the pldt backbone, so outages will really not be any fewer. But better customer service is definitely a reason to switch ??

I read somewhere FilProducts has no lock in period vs PLDT's 3 year contract....if correct that appeals.

What about Globe Fiber is it running well in Valencia anybody have a report? Is it a viable alternative I wonder.

When I got FilProducts the lock in period was two years.
Their cable TV is okay. Their internet has been very good. Customer service is good. Any time there has been poor performance it seems the other networks are also having problems so my guess is they problems are not from FilProducts.
I'm at a loss to say anything good about PLDT or Globe.
