If possible find one that sprays a stream of pepper spray several feet towards the assailant and not one of the mist types as the mist only goes a foot or two and gets blown around by the wind which is just as likely to affect the person using it. You want a pepper spray that sprays like hornet or wasp sprays do out 6 feet or more. Also you can use the hornet or wasp sprays against both animal and human targets as they are both equally affected by them.
