Ask for Lacteeze at Mercury Drug (or any other pharmacy). Mercury Drug is supposed to carry it, if they don't have it locally, ask them to order. Watson's might be a good one to ask at, too.
Thanks. I actually went to Mercury (and 5 other pharmacies) and asked for "lactase enzyme", explained it was for lactose intolerance and got a deer in the headlights look. I had a feeling they had it but would only know what I was looking for if I could provide a brand name. (Much like my experience with looking for "bouillon cubes" in the grocery store. If you don't know what Knorr is nobody is going to know wtf you are taking about.)
I have messaged an internal medicine Dr. I know there in Dumaguete. He said he doesn't have a lot of lactose intolerance experience so he will ask a Gastroenterologist associate for me. He will get back to me and let me know what options there are. I told him you would like something like Lactaid (which we all know they don't have).
Short chain fatty acids, Ashkenazi Jews, mucosal brush border of the intestine, dissacharide sugars, colonic bacteria, recessive inherited traits...sounds like a Billy Joel song doesn’t it? I would just get yourself properly checked out bud rather than self diagnosing and asking for help here...lactose ingestion, hydrogen breath test, osteopenia, infective diarrhoea, intestinal biopsy, we didn’t start the fire... cheers C.
I was diagnosed as lactose intolerant by a doctor when I was an infant. My mom just never mentioned it until about a week ago.
