Recreation & Hobbies Pellet Rifle

I would like to buy a good quality pellet rifle for target practice and to use against dogs who wander on my property and chase my cats. Thankfully none have caught my felines family. Does anyone have experience with pellet rifles? Or know where to purchase one? Brands? Quality? The manager of my property had a pellet rifle but it did not last very long. It used a CO2 cartridge and seemed to have a good range of 30 meters for accurate shots. Are there any restrictions on ownership? Thanks ahead.

 

Try Cangs dept store, north road, they usually have a selection of models. Also spare parts like seals & gaskets etc.

 

A good quality sling shot is my weapon of choice, anyone know where I can get one?

 

confirmed today jan 31 that cangs has two models. one takes 100 pumps of air for five shots, the other model ten shots per co2 cartridge. 8k to 10k for the guns, extra for pump, co2 and pellets. they do sell to foreigners

 

I understood that foreigners are not allowed to own these. Under the law they are treated the same as regular guns.

 

i agree, i have read the same thing but i did ask staff if they sold to foreigners and they said yes so not sure what that means. i would not buy without researching that a bit. same thing for bows and arrows i think

 

The law says if it has a brass or bronze barrel it is not a gun so foreigners can own one.

 

When I was a kid we have fun using blowpipe or blowgun, it can be very primitive, just a plastic straw and some amu, we use dried green peas (turn yellow when dried), small stones, plastic pellets, etc. Indians use them with toxic arrows in fights and for hunting. Like slingshots, you can get them primitive and very basic and up to very advanced, can be a cheap solution

(l) Firearm refers to any handheld or portable weapon, whether a small arm or light weapon, that expels or is designed to expel a bullet, shot, slug, missile or any projectile, which is discharged by means of expansive force of gases from burning gunpowder or other form of combustion or any similar instrument or implement. For purposes of this Act, the barrel, frame or receiver is considered a firearm.

The part the gets you with airguns is the "any similar instrument" part. The interpretation of that is that any implement with a barrel that expels a projectile from compressed force (air or CO2) is considered a gun by law.
