Times Mercantile on Locsin is a charred cinder, never sure when (/if) it might return, but if Pasta King won't sell it to you, try Times/ Sophias next to Animal Wellness on Hibbard near Nevas... Not only did they have La Gitana Manzanilla, (the google god says it's a highly respected sherry), but one of the new women there ( i think they are there from the old store) not only knew what sherry was, but showed me the La Gitana bottle, this was a couple months ago. Might have some ports too.

JLH (downstairs from Don Atilano on Rizal, same owner) has a couple good ports also, but no sherry...

Anybody have any good recommendations for other wine stores ???

My wife recently bought 2 bottles of dry sherry in Bacolod (none available in Duma even if they know what it is) for marinading. The place is called Shimaros and is located on Lacson St, not too far from the L'Fisher hotel.

 

Shimaro's has 3 locations in Bacolod. There is also a place called Zellar's Wine on the North side near China Bank. I also find a nice selection in the new Ayala Supermarket behind the Capitol.

But here, Sophia's is a good selection, they now open at 8.

 

8 AM ??? That's for the early drunks. In the old days (2018), the store was lucky to open by 10:30, and did close promptly for lunch which i think was 12 to 2... But since times burnt up, it's seems to have improved. 9 to 6 would be fine..

 

Yup they changed the hours after Times went up in smoke. I went there the other day at 8:25 and they were not open. I'll go later today and see if they changed their opening times again. No sign on the door except looking for help.

 

Opening time I dont know, same for lunch break (very flexible). Though nowadays they are open 7 days a week and close 10pm each day.

 

Went there yesterday. Opening time is now at 9AM.
