Pretty sure he wasn't in the 'life savings into property' category. The guy was a drunk, moved out with his Filipina GF a month ago then moved back in 2 days later without her. Would get drunk and walk around the apartment yelling even when he was alone. I am sure you have seen him, he was the guy between my apartment and the apartment you helped move a few months ago.
Was doing his 'normal' nightly drunken yelling crap but took it outside the couple nights before, the night before starting about 2am he started terrorizing my wife (I am in the US for 10 days), banging on our door, yelling through the bedroom window, blocking our door with his bicycle and sticks of bamboo. She called the landlady who came out about 4:30am with her husband and told him to go inside and quiet down. Was generally quiet after that. Sometime mid morning my wife heard a ruckus and looked to find the landlady in the parking area looking at the guy on the ground. He had climbed the water tank and jumped. Was alive when the ambulance got him.

OK, I made it back, and now it's time.... for the rest of the story....
As I said in my original post he was scaring the crap out my wife from about midnight on. He settled down for a while after the land lady and her husband showed up and talked to him at around 4am. He was back at it by 6am, around 7am my wife snuck out back to do a little cleaning and noticed his clothes ect on the ground behind his unit. She heard him go to the parking area but did not hear the gate open, he didn't come back either so after being scared all night called the landlady again instead of investigating herself. The landlady came back and saw him hanging from the water tower. By the time my wife was brave enough to find out what the landlady was screaming about her and the other neighbor had cut him down and he was laying on the ground. The other neighbor got the Valencia ambulance and they took him to the provincial hospital. He was breathing, twitching and warm when put in the ambulance and was pronounced DOA at the hospital. The funeral is in Valencia tomorrow, Friday the 21st.
....and now you know the rest of the story (and so do I)....-

For most of us alcohol is a depressant. It can be a Catch-22, if you are depressed you drink which fuels the depression.
