On the way home tonight on the bike (YBR) going up to Valencia with my gf I was going about 60-70kph and suddenly see a black shadow in the middle of the road about 20 meters in front of me. Knew it was a dog (eating something in the road) but couldn't tell which side the head was on. I guessed the head was on the left so I went right (hoping it would take off to the left). I was wrong. As I swerved to the right the dog took off running to the right. I JUST missed hitting the Labrador sized dog, which most certainly would have caused me and my gf to come flying off the bike. The dog was almost as certain of the collision as I was as it let out a big yelp right as I passed it (and somehow I didn't even clip its tail). Normally I would have given a good swift kick and punted the mutt but it was such a large dog that kicking it would have most certainly knocked me off my bike and I was almost certain I was going down that I was only concerned with holding on as tight as I could. These mutts need to be put down. They are dangerous and can get people killed!
....No need to be going that fast on a motorcycle here. No Street lights on the roads here at night etc.....People need to be careful with these bikes they are very dangerous...You should know from previous experience...But... Thank God nothing happened...Take care .... Hope 2016 is good to you...
Amen to that bruv, scurvy , flea infested , uncared for and a menace on the roads, and as for the dogs , where do you start !!
Sad thing is many of these dogs aren't even really strays but belong to Filipino's who just leave them out and don't really give a d*mn about them. They seem to think having a dog around at times that they occasionally throw scraps to will somehow protect them. More of my near hits from dogs like this I can tell isn't a stray but someones dog. So rather then just putting the dogs down how about putting some of the owners down as well? After all nothing will change when the owners don't face any dangers and obligations towards their dogs.
Watch out for the forum dog lovers, the last time i brought this subject up it went on & on & on & on & on zzzzzzzzzzzzz By the way i am a dog lover but i only love my dogs not all the strays that make it impossible for us to take our dogs outside our property, (even on a leash) For the benefit of the Filipinos a leash is a thing you put on a dogs collar to stop it biting people, fighting with other dogs and shitting where you don't want it to. A collar is............ (joke lang)
Here's the dog laws, now all one has to do is get them enforced. Supposedly all barangays now have 2 trained dog catcher people. Has anyone ever seen them do anything ? R.A. 9482 - AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE CONTROL AND ELIMINATION OF HUMAN AND ANIMAL RABIES, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR
As with many things, nothing is done and on this Subject, it seems more dogs are on the Street than before this RA came out, maybe it is me but.........
60-70kph is only 37-43mph. That is around the speed limits on a main city street in Anytown USA. Not exactly being a speed demon. (and there are lights going up to Valencia most of the way....this dog just happen to be sitting in a dark spot between two of them.) The only time someone will claim a stray dog as their property is when you actually hit the mutt......and then claim that their Filipino mutt is a pure breed worth 20k pesos. Had that happen once in Northern Samar, laughed, told them they should have kept it on a leash if it was worth so much and then drove away from the idiot.
When i was in Bayawan the dog catchers came around every week a guy on a bike to find and shoot the dog and 3 men in a truck to collect the body. Sounds cruel but every kid could ride a bike or people could walk there dog with out the worry of stray dogs being a problem . But why not here?
As a dog Owner and lover I don't like to see animals just shot dead but have to agree that where there is doubt about the Dog, then yes Culling is a must.
