Any other Brits like this "then and now" picture of HM and HRH on her Diamond Jubilee ? I certainly do.

Great picture! Outstanding royal couple too. Done the UK and Commonwealth proud for a very long time. Couldn't have asked for better.

well, I am not into that royal-stuff. However 60 years is an awsome achievement and deserves a lot of respect without any doubt.

    congrats

PS: As long England send individuals like this "Broadside" out for diplomatic services to embassies in fairly remote non-commonwealht countries, they are good to go for at least another 10 or 20 yeears...

Talk about class, dignity, and an inspiration to hundreds of millions. Respect, and "long live the queen".

Well congrats to the Brits but as far as the Danish monarchy goes I find it undemocratic and plain wrong. It may be just ceremonial and for tourism/export these days. Nevertheless, it is hypocrisy to preach democratic/freedom values (including sending soldiers around the world in their defence) while at the same time having a head of state who acquires a position above the law by inheritance. Not too far from the nepotism in Phil politics so often criticized.

As one monarchist to the other: Congrats!
The Dutch are also lucky to have a Royal family and contrary to an earlier response to this thread the majority of the population does not regard their presence as non-democratic. Our Royals are the glue that keeps the nation together (look at the colour of the outfits of Dutch soccer fans during the upcoming championship: Orange, which is the colour of our first king: William of Orange)!!
