Wrye may have to approve this , but I thought I would start this thread for people drifting off topic , if you drift too far off topic , as in no portion of your post relates to much you can take it here , and maybe if you don't have a topic but just want to post something minor or trivial , a bit of free flow bullshit or whatever , or just to finish a chat that has morphed while on another thread . Yada Yada. (Tom you are welcome to post the first reply ) Wrye can you attach any stipulations or rules that you want , or wipe the thread , whatever
Weid kinda name but we popped in today to have a peak. Owner Jamacian is is the food, place looked nice and neat inside. Menu simple clear, no MSG and no pork, vege dishes and curries. No wine charge if one brings a bottle. Going there tonight so watch this space.
So that must be the one love Jamaican place opposite Roberts auto parts on the south highway you are talking about! He always had pretty good food before,I saw him re modelling the place last week whilst getting the truck serviced.
Yup that's the one, it's now called true love. We arrived around 8pm and were immediately met by the very affable owner, sorry forgot his name. The place is not fancy how ever spotlessly clean and adequate for a nice meal. We chose to sit outside as inside is quite small and a few people there. Soon as we sat the complimentary food arrived, honestly larger than a normal starter. He is doing a dis service to himself here. Curries were excellent as was the chicken. Very impressed with costings and quality, my partner was given a tour of the kitchen which she compared to a surgery. The owner is over friendly and never left our table, this could be a consideration to first time diners wanting privacy. The guy is so friendly. Further he is involved in many charitable acts, feeding homeless kids and the like. All in all excellent food, modest surroundings, very affordable, we shall return, highly recommended.
Thanks I have seen the place and wanted to stop by but it was in the middle of the afternoon and looked like the place was hot as it was on the beach side of south road so had full sun in the afternoons. I will have to try either earlier or later. Thanks for heads up!
I believe I was there. I was sitting at the next table over, the guy with the longish hair and beard. That's a good review and I will show it to the owner. He appreciates any feedback. The privacy item is a tricky balance. Often you'll see friends and even new customers sitting at the same table. The inside area is probably better for a more quiet setting. We get a bit chatty outside.
I concur. I went there today for lunch and had a very nice starter of Soup and cornbread (I believe included with all meals) and spoke to the Owner 'Orville' while my food was prepared. Very nice guy and very friendly. The place was spotless for a local eatery and he had see through windows so you can watch your meal being prepared in the immaculately clean kitchen. I was impressed. Also talking with the owner he recently did a renovation and enclosed part of the eating area with smoked glass windows to block out street noise and flies etc. he also added an air conditioner so it was very pleasant to eat there in midday sun. The food was very tasty and large portions for a very reasonable price IMPO. They are open from approx 8am till 10 pm and you can call in your order for pick-up if you like at 0905-707-1643 or 0905-268-3255. I enjoyed the food and conversation and will be back again. DaveD
