And unfortunately there is no way around the updates with the x-box one. You cannot buy the games on a disk anymore. (You can get the games on a disc but it doesn't contain the entire game and you still need to go online to download the rest of it..) Luckily I downloaded all the games I wanted while I was in Afghanistan (still slow internet but no data limits). Now I just make sure the xbox never has access to the internet so that it can't check for updates.
