A bit of work on a Sunday We only had 4 workers today, but were able to get a bit done. Still a bit more leveling (especially the beams) and some additional spacers to keep the beams straight. There first attempt at some bent up bar was way too deep, but at least they are looking at the rebar plan. She sent some pics of the jacks (bracing) from below and they are going to have to do a bit more work and then stay out when we place the concrete. Shawn
A couple pics from a nice Monday There is a lot of work left before we place the roof slab concrete but should be able to make it happen within the week. Shawn
wow shawn you have not been tight with the reo, what was used on my house in Bacolod compared to yours looked like chicken wire, good job
Brian...the original plan was to use 10mm rebar for the mat, but what the supplier gave us was closer to 8mm so I bumped the rebar up to 12mm. I went with a flat roof because I envision that will be the place to hangout and entertain. It will have a toilet, washing machine, refrigerator, BBQ grill, picnic tables and a bunch of potted plants. 1/2 of the roof will have a "roof" in case of rain and keep the sun off. If they want to do videoke it will be up stairs and I can escape it. Shawn
Some pics from yesterday The internet here was acting up yesterday so I was not able to upload any pics. Today is yet another fiesta in the village where a majority of the workers are from, so it may be a slow day at the site. We are shooting for Saturday to place concrete, hopefully that happens. I ordered all the locksets from the US and had them shipped in a balikbayan box (plus a lot of other things). When I looked around in Dumaguete I could never find what I wanted on the quantity in stock. I'm also having keypads on the exterior doors as well as the front gate personnel door. I also have a video intercom that will let us see as well as open the personnel door from inside the house. Shawn
Afghan project--some civil pics I know it is off topic a bit, but since I posted some pics before I figured what the heck. I'm always pleased when we start finish grading and roadways, closer to the end than the beginning of the project. Shawn
No landscaping? :( Just teasing. Are the quonset hut type buildings prefabricated or are they made on site, framework and all?
The steel comes in coils and is ran through a machine on site that first makes the initial bends and then the sections are ran through a different part of the machine for the arc. Depending on the radius, either 3 or 5 pieces are seamed and craned into place. The smaller buildings would take anywhere from a day to 2 days to erect and the larger ones upwards of 5 days, to include end panels. Much faster and cheaper than PEB's. No landscaping is in the contract, other than the soccer field we will irrigate with some of the treated water from our waste water treatment plant. Shawn
Pulling some OT tonight Due to the fiesta in the village yesterday and the fact we were short manned today (due to hangovers) the guys stayed late to try and get as much work on the mat done as possible. We are still planning on placing concrete for the roof slab and beams on Saturday. The electricians made a few mistakes that they have to get straight tomorrow, as well as get the metal boxes in the EVG panels below and secured into the slab, don't need any ceiling fans coming down on us. Shawn
Concrete placement pushed back till Sunday (so far) The electricians did not finish all their work and the plumbers are not able to pressure test the water lines until tomorrow. Not unexpected, but disappointing as there is not very much electrical in the slab. I have no clue what the wife is doing with the ceiling in the nipa, but I'm sure she has a plan. Shawn
