Ok, why not...? From my inbox; Dear Webmaster, I am carrying out an academic study of Westerners in the Philippines, which partly involves an online survey. I wonder if you would be able to post the passage below on your site? When the study is complete, I will post a summary and analysis on various forums and sites. Thanks, Robert Howard Academic Study of Westerners Living in the Philippines. Dr. Robert Howard is doing a major academic study of Westerners now living in the Philippines. The study looks at reasons for moving to the Philippines, characteristics and well-being of the local Westerner population, and their experiences in-country. If you are a Westerner, not of Filipino descent, who has lived in the Philippines for at least a year, you are invited to complete an anonymous online survey form. It takes only about 10 minutes to fill out. A summary and analysis of the findings will be posted here and various expats forums and websites when the study is complete. The survey will yield a valuable picture of the local Westerner population and perhaps some tips on how to successfully live in the Philippines. If you would like to fill out an online survey form, please follow the following link. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2C2ZBXF
Has anyone taken part in this survey ? I havn't, but I have read through all of the questions. The survey is claimed to be anonymous, but by the time you have answered questions 10 or 11, you have virtually identified yourself. Just by answering 4 of the questions, i.e. your nationality, your exact age, your Philippines location, and your employment before you came here, narrows it down considerably. Armed with all the information that you are asked to provide, it would be relatively simple for anyone with a moderately inquisitive mind, and a bit of ferreting around, to work out exactly who you are. Err on the side of caution.
I didn't even look at the survey but I have to agree. And in my opinion I wouldn't even go to the site. There is something fishy and it isn't my neighbors cooking. Assume nothing. Question everything.
When I lived in Canada, a b*tch came to my door. She said she was from Stats Can and I was REQUIRED to complete the national census form that she had with her. I had trouble with her for a year as she came to my door every week and demanded I complete the form. Each time I told her politely that I will not do it and she is welcome to arrest me and have me thrown in jail (the penalty that she frequently threw at me). In time we became friendly but I never did fill out her survey and years later she told me that I was the only one to ever refuse to do it under that kind of pressure. So ya think I'm gonna do a survey now?
Dave. I would have asked for ID from Stats Can and if she didn't have it I would have grabbed her, tied her up, and called the police citing Citizens Arrest of an attempted scammer and thief who was trying to case your joint. As far as the survey goes I don't mind questions such as age, sex, nationality, and so forth. But half of the survey is just that and a chunk of the rest is really not all so needed.
