I have looked into getting us all together once again, and would like input on what you, the forum members, would prefer.

Due to the fact that the last event was in the south, and we have several members in the north, I thought this event should be held to the north of city center. My choices are Hayahay or Mia's. I tried talking briefly with each today, to get a feel for what may be in the offering.

Mia's basically said we either order off the menu (all 40 or so of us?) OR, we order ahead of time (and pay ahead of time). So basically we need to order and pay ahead of time, or many of us will be waiting an hour or two if we order food. Mia's has a very nice pool and surrounding area which would accommodate all of us. However, I am told by the staff that by 1 PM or so, the pool is too hot to be in.

Hayahay has no pool, but they are much more equipped to handle a crowd of 40 or so people.

So, I created this poll to see what you, the members, would like better.

Maybe look for more alternatives, but I am not an "Outgoing" person, so I don't have a clue where to find one...
    I will wait and see...

Hayahay, for this occasion, seems like it would be better, IMHO.

I tend to agree. My reasoning is Mia's does not seem to be very accommodating on food, and I'm sure some will want to eat. I have no faith that Mia's can feed 30+ people off their menu in a timely manner, so people ordering late may be waiting hours for food. They will not prepare anything ahead of time unless we pay for it in advance.

Hayahay, on the other hand, is quite accustomed to feeding 40+ people at a time, and as long as we give them a heads up before hand, I don't think there will be such a long wait. Probably this will be in the afternoon when they are seldom busy otherwise.

    Lost!

    Good Morning All

Although it has been mentioned here a lot in the past (Hayahay) for some reason, it is a place, I have never visited.

    :o Where is it?

Just a thought for this or future events, Pigeon Resort is central to Duma and Valencia and only charges 50 peso entrance fee (IF you can convince them to waive the table fee and/or corkage fee which bring the cost up quite a bit). My thoughts are that the wives/gfs could go for a swim while the men chat. But its just a thought.

I've never been to either place, but know where Hayahay is and from what folks have commented on it sounds like it would be more able to accommodate folks with drinks and at least some snacks. I'm good with whatever the member's decide on, I'll need an afternoon off pretty soon and will definitely make the get together; may need directions though as I have only heard of the one place mentioned.

I have come to accept that I can never be at a certain place at a certain time to meet anyone. So, I likely won't be there. I will be with you in spirit though.

You basically want a place which you can largely take over, roam around, hear each other talk and know that most of the people are probably there for a certain reason.

Hayahay is a great place for a small group to hash things out but I would think it would be terrible for a large group. On many days there is a band there and it's hard to carry a conversation. On certain nights it's so busy that you would have difficulty sitting everyone in the same area (unless you have tables reserved) and there is a lot of activity there. There isn't much going on during the day, but it fills up at night. I do love the food there though. Probably my favorite place to s

Mia's would be great if they can work out the food situation. Often Mia's is relatively empty, they have a big area in back in addition to the pool table and regular area. However, 40 people might be a bit much for that place. They would probably need to keep the place exclusively for the DI meeting. I would think they would be able to figure out a way to serve everyone if DI made the commitment.

If La Fiesta worked out well last time, I would just keep it there. The only issue with La Fiesta is that it's a pain to get to for some people.

Alternatively, just down the road is Black Pearl, which can handle a big group. They do events, so I imagine they could keep the food flowing. It's also easy to reach by PediCab.

Another option might be Santa Monica Beach Resort. I haven't been there in a long time, so it might be total crap, but I remember it being big and easily accessible in Dumaguete.

We have had meetings at Private Garden in the past. Is that place any good these days?

SM - Per their representative who was at Robinson's Mall a month or so ago their entrance fee is 500p.

You need to get out more. I don't think that Private Garden is there anymore, at least Dave isn't there anymore I know.
