I enjoy checking DI once in a while and watch topics develop, develop to solutions, arguments or sometimes a fight...it's amusing.
You guys did well with this online community yet I have to agree, it used to be livelier.

What I can suggest is advertising the site in social media and MAKE IT APPEALING TO LOCALS, I am a a Dumagueteño and a Filipino and learning from your cultures even just by reading them is entertaining and I think Dumaguete residents are missing a lot by not chiming in here. There are ways to make this forum more attractive to the local populace and I will just leave it up for discussion if you guys agree, anyway if info from dumaguete is what this forum is about, i bet the locals can contribute a ton.

More power DI, as for me...i'll stay there in the corner in my little fishing Dumaguete Angler section.

I agree it was livelier at one time, with fights, arguments, and obnoxious people attacking other posters several times per day. Quite frankly it was a moderators nightmare. I do have other things to do, without spending all day as a babysitter. The attacks, fights, and arguments run the good informative posters off. Some of the best posters we had were run off by the attacks and petty bickering that once ruled this site.

It may surprise to to know that over half of the membership is Filipino. They sign up, spam the forum, then never post again once they learn their MLM or other spam will not be allowed. They want to post their Aunties lot for sale or advertise their business for free (would you care to advertise on DI?). Over the years a few Filipinos have become regular posters, but they don't seem to last long, pretty soon they are insulted or don't agree with someone.

We also have a facebook page, which has over 3000 likes and is predominantly Filipino, but when we delete all the spam there is little left at the end of the day. If they just made one spam post I would allow it, but they seem to have to post their spam 10 times or more in succession.

That is a sad state if that is the case, as for me... you might notice that I am advertising in a way my fishing guiding service but if asked with the guys I've been out with here... it is actually just a method for me to guide anglers/guests and I get to fish for free. :D

Anyhow I do hope that in a way, my posts already contribute as good content for DI. I understand that running a forum has costs and will contribute through content in any way I can. I also recommend local businesses to advertise here, just like Orientwind.

As no doubt, with Roger, I certainly remember them, An old O/C of mine (bit of a fly boy with the ladies) used to have his weekly meal allowance of 6 pounds 17 shillings and sixpence paid out in as many 10 "Bob" notes as possible, he got 13 of them + silver of 7 shillings and 6 pence, he used to say, my wallet looks fatter and more appealing, to the ladies, full of 10 "bob" notes. Have to admit, he was never short of a lady on his arm.
