Q 1: I have a 25 year old, dilapidated pickup truck that I may have to sell. Where can I find someone to appraise its value? Is there such a person in the area? Q 2: I have a 4 year old Honda motorcycle that has spent too much time out in the sun and rain. Because so many of the parts are plastic I am wondering if it is feasible to get it painted? Is there a paintshop for motorcycles and would the paint last on plastic parts?
1) What make and model is it? Dilapidated - what repairs does it need? 2) Yes, (most) plastic can be successfully painted. As far as the paint "lasting" that would depend on the type of paint; how many coats are applied; and how well the plastic piece was prepped for paint. I had an older Yamaha 250 dirt bike in the U.S. that I repainted all the plastic using spray cans in the early 80's. The paint held up surprisingly well through numerous uses and pressure washings of the bike.
For an answer to both questions you may ask "t*ts" the owner of the 2. hand car/motorbike/bicycle place past the Provincial Hospital, across from the Bowlling Hall, there were a lot of "Racal" bikes standing to the left, he can appraise the car and has connections for the paint job... I recently got my Kawasaki Versys painted a different color at the place behind the car display opposite Hypermart on the Valencia Road. Did a fantastic job. Highly recommended.
I have had my CBR Fireblade painted there twice, with the first time being a completely different color. They do excellent work and are extremely fair with the price. (They painted the entire entire bike and repaired the plastic for 10k.) BTW: Almost every painted surface on my fireblade is plastic.
I have bought, sold and traded probably 50 bikes and cars over the years here. Dustin is right about the painter across from hyper' but..... on the japanese scooters its cheaper to buy new plastic than to paint and re-decal the old pieces. They come with factory decals, and original colors for a very cheap price. Check it out...
I didn't even see that it was for a scooter. I believe each piece of plastic is around 200 pesos, doesn't matter what part it is. You are looking at maybe around 1k for the entire bike. As Gerry mentioned they should already have the decals on them.
