I suppose I could try walking my @ss into some stores to look for this one. I admit I haven't looked, but I don't know where to start. I looked up "Lowe's" and sure enough, there is nothing like that in Dumaguete. I let the kids pick out the house we are currently living in and I'm not too amused by the crazy colors the people chose when building this house. So, I'm looking to let the kids do even worse by writing all over the walls or pinning stuff up. I'm looking to cover the walls with either whiteboard or cork board or a combo of both. Because I would be using a lot of material, I want to use something that would be cheap. If whiteboard, I'm thinking something that would work like a whiteboard. I have hear white "hardboard" paneling would work. Because it's not actual whiteboard, I might have to replace it regularly, but that's not a problem. Anyone have any idea of anything sold locally that I could use for this? Corkboard would be cool also. It looks a bit better than whiteboard. I could also just use small sheets and put a bunch of them up. Then the kids could pin up whatever they want, including lots of paper to write on just like it was a whiteboard. Okay, I admit, I would probably join in on the fun. :D
In the back of the National Bookstore in Robinson's Mall they have (or at least recently used to) whiteboards.
The cheapest would probably be, the large styrofoam sheets(8'x4')they sell but you would probably have to paint them with white flat acrylic paint...
Thanks for the info. I will check out National Bookstore, but they probably have heavy duty, possibly framed and expensive whiteboards. I'm looking to do something a bit strange. I would like to throw whiteboard panels (or cork) over much of the wall space. I want this to be easy to mount and to trash. So, I'm thinking light panels, something thin and cheap. Thanks for the styrofoam sheeting idea. That's interesting. Maybe I could do something with that. Where did you find these?
Lee Plaza has the whiteboards of various sizes at about half the cost of national bookstore. In the back corner of the office supplies area, near the cash registers. Larry
Shawn, try YY trading. there is not much they don't do and if they don't have them they will certainly help you to find it. check this site out OK? Construction Supplies Directory of Dumaguete
I imagine everything at Lee Plaza is half the cost of national bookstore. Thanks, I will check that out. I'm still looking for something like 4' x 8' panels which I could use as whiteboard rather than getting actual whiteboard, but I will see what they have for sizes. Aside from that, looks like I will just have to pound the pavement and start looking.
I purchased some small whiteboards. There were actually white plastic plastic sheets. One was cardboard with metal veneer with an almost enamel white paint on it.. It actually is the best of all i have purchased. Alcohol is great for really cleaning up a white board of all the old writings.
Instead of painting, one could use maybe this thin plastic foils they use for sign boards, the ones they stretch over the frames. The last time I saw some styrofoam boards 1/2"(?)4'x8', was at "Zenith" opposite the the new "May Bank" at Realstreet, I think "Rejoice" has them too...
